This free bop session (which is often quite free but often has a strong pulse) is one of altoist Oliver Lake's more rewarding sessions. Guitarist Kevin Eubanks sometimes seems a bit out of place (generally he plays in more conservative settings), but pianist Geri Allen, bassist Fred Hopkins, and drummer Pheeroan AkLaff are quite comfortable thinking on their feet during these spirited performances. ~~ by Scott Yanow
